Field Meeting Rules

Dates of field meetings are published in the diary.

If you wish to attend a field meeting, then please register with the Field Secrtetary by telephone (contact details in the committee page of the members area) on the Wednesday or Thursday before the meet between 1900 and 2100 to avoid dissapointment.

Places are limited and are on a first come first served basis. Only CLUB MEMBERS will be eligible to attend the field meetings.

  • A Field Marshall or Marshall’s will be appointed for each meeting and the instructions of the Field Marshalls MUST BE FOLLOWED. Failure to follow the instructions of the Field Marshall may result in members being asked to leave the field meeting.
  • All mobile phones must be switched off or muted during the meeting.
  • Please ensure you bring a valid membership card with your photograph in it to the field meet.
  • Separate species not to be flown together.
  • Before a bird is slipped, an agreed warning is to be given.
  • Order of flights to be agreed before the meeting commences.
  • A maximum of two birds to be loose at any one time.
  • Birds waiting their turn to fly should be either hooded or tethered to the glove via the leash to avoid any unnecessary accidents.
  • Birds being flown should be equipped with Flying Jesse’s for the flight, and Mews Jesse’s when waiting their turn whilst on the fist.
  • All birds intending to be flown must be at their correct flying weight.
  • Dogs and Ferrets may be used at meetings, however please contact your field secretary before the meeting to ascertain whether they will be required, and that somebody will be available to work them. Dogs must be registered before the field meeting.
  • All ferrets being used on the field meet must be wearing working Debden Locator Collars.
  • Due regard to be given to the quality of flight. Always allow an avenue of escape for the quarry.
  • All quarry to be dispatched as quickly and humanely as possible.
  • When Gutting quarry all remains must be disposed of in the correct manner.
  • All members to be individually responsible for obtaining Quarry licenses before attending a club field meeting. You will be asked to show your license before commencing the meet.
  • NO CAMERAS OR VIDEOING EQUIPMENT IS ALLOWED ON THE FIELD WITHOUT PRIOR CONSENT OF THE FIELD SECRETARY

The club holds a number of meetings throughout the hunting season. These are normally fortnightly. The land that is used is covered by an agreement with the landowner or his /her agent. There is a the strict understanding that only organised events by the CFRC will take place and that anybody approaching the landowner or his agent will be told that the land is for club events only.

 

Game and Quarry Licenses : Game Licenses were abolished on August 1st 2007 and are no longer necessary in England and Wales.
